What does piling mean in software testing?

This is supposed to be a way to debug software, as well as a way to test software. When doing unit or integration tests, if a statement in a program unit calls an external function that has not yet been designed, coded, or debugs, it can simply return a few values in support of the test case. The external function in this state is usually called "pile-driving."
